Classes

Concord Youth Theater offers a wide range of programs for children and young adults. Whether you want to be part of a weekly class or a major theatrical production, there is something for every child from age 4 through college at CYT.

CYT follows MA public school guidelines around Covid-19 protocols. In addition, we take the following health safety measures:

Limiting contact 

  • Non-essential adults, including family members of children, will not be allowed access to the building. Drop-off and pick-up will take place outside of the building. 

What to expect when you arrive at CYT

  • Children will be escorted to their class by CYT staff. 

What to expect when you pick up your child from class

  • Families will be asked to wait outside, and a CYT staff person will escort their child out of the building.

Refund and Cancellation Policy:

Tuition is due at the time of registration. Your space is guaranteed only when payment is received. All classes are contingent on sufficient enrollment. Tuitions will be returned if a class is cancelled. In the case of Registrant cancellation, REFUNDS (minus a $25 processing fee) ARE GIVEN ONLY IF THE OFFICE IS NOTIFIED ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE START OF FIRST CLASS. Once a class begins, no refunds will be given.

Classes are designed to afford interested students the exciting experience of rehearsing a piece from start to finish. Regular attendance by all students is very important, particularly where indicated below. Please check your schedules before signing up students for classes.

Fall 2023 CLASSES

Registration opens on Monday, August 7th. 

Tuesday Classes For Ages 4 – 12th grade: 9/5, 9/12, 9/19, 9/26, 10/3, 10/10, 10/17, 10/24, 11/7, 11/14 (No class 10/31)

MONSTERS, MAGIC AND MAKE BELIEVE
(Ages 4-6 years; Instructor: Joey Talbert; Tuesdays 3:45-4:35pm) Come toss some fairy dust with us and go to a world where trolls stroll and unicorns prance.  Using their imaginations and sense of fun, children will befriend and become these magical creatures as they act out tales on the stage. Limit 8 students. Tuition: $275

(Ages 4-6 years; Instructor: Joey Talbert; Tuesdays 5:00-5:50pm) Come toss some fairy dust with us and go to a world where trolls stroll and unicorns prance.  Using their imaginations and sense of fun, children will befriend and become these magical creatures as they act out tales on the stage. Limit 8 students. Tuition: $275

SHOWTIME
(Grades 1-2; Instructor: Tyler Arle; Tuesdays 4:45-5:45pm) Children will be guided through the exciting process of play-making in a safe environment that encourages ensemble work. The class will use exciting original scripts to create and rehearse a play to be performed for family members during the last class. ***Regular attendance is required. Limit 10 students. Tuition $300

KIDS KOMPANY
(Grades 3-4; Instructor: Joey Talbert; Tuesday’s 6:00-7:00pm) Students will experience the excitement of putting on a play, improvising scripts, auditioning for roles, rehearsing, and creating simple costumes to accent their characters. This class will focus on performance skills with special emphasis on class collaboration. The session will conclude with an informal performance. ***Regular attendance is required. Limit 15 students. Tuition: $300

IMPROV
(Grades 8-12; Instructor: Tyler Arle; Tuesdays 6:15-7:15pm) Love Saturday Night Live? Learn the fundamentals of improvisation and comedy through games, exercises, and scene work. New and returning students learn how to work together as an ensemble and be part of an improv troupe! Gain confidence on stage and in school! Fun, supportive environment. Limit: 20 students. Tuition: $300

Thursday Classes For 2nd – 6th grade: 9/7, 9/15, 9/21, 9/28, 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, 11/9, 11/16 (No class 11/2)

INTRO TO MUSICAL THEATER
(Grades 2-4; Instructor: Hannah Flint; Thursdays 4:00-5:00pm) Wondering what CYT’s Mainstage auditions are like, or thinking of auditioning for your school play? Join this class to gain the confidence and skills to nail auditions and be prepared for the entire process of putting on a full-scale production! Limit: 20 students. Tuition: $300

ACTING AS PLAY
(Grades 4-6; Instructor: Hannah Flint; Thursdays 5:15-6:15pm) Love improv games and creating characters? Build confidence onstage and off while playing! This class will use drama games to sharpen skills for performance, stretch your imagination, and build a supportive class community — with friends, old and new! Limit: 20 students. Tuition: $300
