Dear Friends of Concord Youth Theatre,

As we approach the end of the year, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous support of Concord Youth Theatre. Your contributions have enabled us to offer a diverse array of exceptional theater experiences and vibrant community events for countless young people and their families.

This past year we lost our beloved founder, Kay DeFord. We are forever grateful that Kay was able to see us finally have our own home that is named after her. Her love of young people, theater, and art, as well as her particular brand of humor, will live within all of us who were lucky enough to work with her and know her.

Since 1976, CYT has offered classes, productions, workshops, guest artists, and more under the direction of professionals. Over the years, light designers, educators, musicians, and designers have offered their knowledge and guidance and so many young people have benefitted from their generosity. It has been proven time and again that participation in theater improves communication skills, builds confidence and develops empathy in young people by allowing them to see different perspectives. Theater fosters creativity, enhances teamwork, encourages self-expression and critical thinking, and helps language development.

We can only accomplish the vision of CYT with your support. Your donations help cover the costs of our programming as well as equipment that enables us to maintain our high production values. This year we are hoping to upgrade our sound and lighting systems. With this upgrade, our students can work with the most advanced technology and enable those who are more interested in the backstage side of the theatre to use the most up to date equipment. In addition, improved technology will allow us to offer the community a variety of outside speakers, guest artists, and more.
