Refund and Cancellation Policy:

Tuition is due at the time of registration. Your space is guaranteed only when payment is received. All classes are contingent on sufficient enrollment. Tuitions will be returned if a workshop is cancelled. In the case of Registrant cancellation, REFUNDS (minus a $25 processing fee) ARE GIVEN ONLY IF THE OFFICE IS NOTIFIED ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE START OF FIRST CLASS.  Once a workshop begins, no refunds will be given.

ACTING SHAKESPEARE

(Grades 8-12; Instructor: Brian Pollock; Saturdays 11/7,11/14, 11/21 12:30-3:30 pm) Curious what the big whoop is about Shakespeare? Nervous about how to act in a Shakespeare play at school, or have trouble understanding it? Shakespeare’s plays are full of juicy plot lines, hilarious comedy, and big bold characters — endless fun for actor, but sometimes his old poetic language and the way we talk about him can make Shakespeare a bit intimidating, right? In this workshop, we will start with the basics to learn how Shakespeare used language and poetry, and how to break it down so you know what you’re saying and enjoy saying it! Soon you’ll see how fun Shakespeare can really be! Limit: 14 Students. Tuition: $270

CLOWNIN’ AROUND

(Grades 8-12; Instructor: Brian Pollock; Mondays 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16 4:00-6:00pm) Jump into your body, and open up like a little flower! This is not the Clown you typically makeup, no costumes, not even a red nose. CLOWNING is based in the pursuit of thethe version of you that was never told “NO.” There’s no politeness, no worrying, no apologizing. Clowning will help you fight your fears and identify and combat your generosity and vulnerability. Once we’ve discovered our inner clown, we can begin to solo to create original Clown numbers and mini-shows. Students of Clowning say over and over again how they find it to be the most important component of their acting training. Come see for yourself what all the fuss is about! Limit: 16 Students. AUDITION TECHNIQUE 

(Grades 8-12; Instructor: Brian Pollock; Saturdays 10/17, 10/24 12:30-3:30pm)Are acting auditions a bit scary for you? Or are you thinking about auditioning for showsor programs that require that intimidating word “monologue”? In this workshop, professional actor and CYT alum Brian Pollock will coach you on a monologue selectedjust for you, and pull back the curtain of mystery and intimidation that surrounds auditioning. Students will leave with a better understanding of how to walk into acting auditions feeling prepared and confident. Limit: 12 Students. Tuition: $180

FALL 2020 Virtual WORKSHOPS

INTRO TO STAGE MAKEUP
(Grades 5-7; Instructor: Michael Clark Wonson; 3 one hour sessions: Fridays 10/9, 10/16, 10/23 5:30-6:30pm)
This three-week workshop will provide a comprehensive introduction to designing makeup for the stage. Students will learn everything from tools and hygiene to basic face charts, culminating in designing makeup for exciting characters! Limit: 12 students. Tuition: $130 (including materials)!

STAGE MAKEUP 1 (Grades 8-12; Instructor: Michael Clark Wonson; 6 one hour sessions- Mondays 10/510/1910/2611/211/911/16 5:30-6:30pm
Over the course of six weeks students will explore their own unique design style as they gain confidence and experience using the necessary tools and products. Students will be introduced to more challenging techniques like clown makeup, wounds and aging! They will walk away having created face charts for 5 unique characters. Limit: 12 students. Tuition: $250 (including materials)!

INTRO TO STAGE MANAGEMENT
(Grades 8-12; Instructor: Michael Clark Wonson; 3 one hour sessions: Wednesdays 11/1111/1811/25 5:30-6:30pm)
Stage managers are the unsung heroes of theater productions. In this crash course in stage management, students will learn important theater basics, what it means to be part of a production team and the responsibilities and skills of a stage manager at CYT and beyond. Limit:12 Students. Tuition: $90

LIGHTING BASICS 
(Grades 7-12; Instructor: Michael Clark Wonson; 5 one hour sessions- Wednesdays 10/710/1410/2110/2811/4 5:30-6:30pm)
Students will explore the ephemeral and temporary technical craft of lighting design with an international award-winning lighting designer. Over the course of five classes, we will cover basic principles of lighting, design skills, effective communication with the production team, dream space design, storyboarding, collage, observation and how to light yourself at home creatively. Limit: 12 students. Tuition $150

DESIGNING AN ONLINE EVENT FROM SCRATCH
(Grades 8-12; Instructor: Michael Clark Wonson; 5 one hour sessions- Fridays 10/3011/611/13, 11/20, 12/4 5:30-6:30pm
The current climate has presented challenges to the entertainment community, but the show must go on! In this unique workshop students will discuss what they miss most about live performances and learn the skills necessary to mount their own digital event. Students will choose a cause, create a theme, and learn everything it takes to produce a full scale digital event. The class will culminate in the presentation of each event! Limit: 12 Students. Tuition: $150

MYSTICAL MYTHS mini musical workshop
(Grades 2-5; Instructor: Kennedy McAlister; Six-week workshop- Fridays 10/210/9, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30 Show day: 11/6 5:00-6:30pm, show day 5:00-7:00pm)
In this online workshop, students will be able to use all sides of their creative brain through performing, small creative writing projects, and design elements! Using an original script centered on the myth of Arachne, students will learn about the components of a myth and the Greek origins of theater, all while working on “sets”, costumes, and a song. These elements will culminate in a live virtual performance! Limit:12 students. Tuition $285

ROCK N ROLL vocal showcase
(Grades 9-12; Instructor: Kennedy McAlister; Six-week workshop- Fridays 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30 Show day: 11/67:00-8:30pm, show day 7:00-9:00pm)
In this online workshop, students will explore the ROCK subset of musical theater repertoire, adding two ready-for-audition pieces to their personal repertoire. The workshop culminates in a showcase where each student will take part in a group song and sing a solo! Sessions will consist of song analysis exercises, private vocal coachings, and audition prep. Limit: 12 students. Tuition $285

SENSATIONAL CINEMA mini musical workshop
(Grades 2-5; Instructor Kennedy McAlister; Six-week workshop Saturdays 10/310/1010/17, 10/24, 10/31 Show day: 11/7; 10:00-11:30am, show day 10:00am-12:00pm) In this online workshop, students will be able to use all sides of their creative brain through performing, small creative writing projects, and design elements! Using an original script centered around a small-town movie theater owner, students will discuss the value of music in the movies, all while working on “sets”, costumes, and a song. These elements will culminate in a live virtual performance! Limit 12 students. Tuition $285

OFF THE PAGE vocal showcase
(Grades 9-12; Instructor: Kennedy McAlister; Six-week workshop Saturdays 10/310/1010/17, 10/24, 10/31 Show day: 11/7; 12-1:30, show day 12:00-2:00pm)
In this online workshop, students will explore musical theater repertoire from musicals that come from literature, adding two ready-for-audition pieces to their personal repertoire. The workshop culminates in a showcase where each student will take part in a group song and sing a solo! Sessions will consist of song analysis exercises, private vocal coachings, and audition prep.
