Annual Appeal 2016

Dear Friend,

You don’t have to be a super hero to understand the impact Concord Youth Theatre has had on hundreds of children over the last 40 years. Or maybe you do…

As a child, CYT was my home away from home. It’s not only where I discovered my passion, but it’s where I made lifelong friends and learned so many valuable tools that I use to this day. CYT is everything. – Chris Evans, Actor

Concord Youth Theatre is dedicated to making high-quality, live theater accessible, relevant and memorable for young people and their families. Since we opened the doors to our new West Concord theater in 2013, we have sold out the vast majority of our shows, added more performances and productions, and continue to expand our classes and workshops to accommodate a burgeoning community of students who seek a safe and nurturing environment where they can express themselves through music, drama and dance.

Since my very first days at Concord Youth Theatre, I have felt welcome and cared for by my cast mates, directors, and friends. CYT has become another home to me, with supportive adults who have taught me all that I know about theatre, and peers who are a second family. – Caroline Drapeau, grade 8 CYT student

Growth comes at a price, however. Meeting the demands of our students for increased programming means more stress on our existing resources—space, budget, manpower—yet this is certainly a good problem to have! Your tax-deductible gift to our annual fund will help CYT grow in important ways. Funding will allow us to make improvements to our black box theatre including purchasing a sound system and state-of-the-art lighting. In addition, it will take us one step closer to realizing a long term goal of securing additional space for more teaching, performance and community outreach. Over the past year, contributions to our annual fund were used to purchase a new sign for our building, a new light board and a moving light instrument; add new junior company and teen company productions to our season lineup; and one generous gift even allowed us to purchase a beautiful new piano for the theater.

More importantly, however, your continued (or new!) support of programs at CYT allows children of all ages to discover themselves through theater—to build friendships with other children who are welcoming, responsive and supportive, friendships that extend well beyond the walls of our theater and can span a lifetime.

CYT quite literally saved my life growing up and gave me a home for over 13 years. It still is my home. As a working actor in New York City, collaborators always talk about my artistic commitment, ability to be a team player, and my level of professionalism. I tell them I learned all of these skills from Lisa Evans and CYT. Friendships I made as a cast member at CYT have continued long into adulthood – someone will always have your back! We love to say, “Once a CYT kid, always a CYT kid!” – Russell Peck, Actor with mom, Nancy Peck, Director

Please consider a tax-deductible contribution to Concord Youth Theatre. We are celebrating 40 years this season, so your generous gift will help us continue to build the lifelong skills and relationships that make CYT such a memorable experience for our students – past, present and future.

Yours truly,

Mary-Lynne Bohn, President, Board of Directors
Lisa Capuano Evans, Artistic Director
