SHOW AND AUDITION INFORMATION
About CYT Performance Companies
Concord Youth Theatre’s performance companies provide an opportunity for young people to participate in a full scale musical production. We are a process oriented education program and focus on the company members working together as an ensemble. We are committed to providing an environment that is creative and educational for our students. Both the Mainstage and Junior companies perform plays that are literature based and age appropriate for all.
Tuition assistance is available. Requests must be made in writing to the Artistic Director, Lisa Evans. Please call the office at 978-371-1482, mailbox 5, to register if you would like to audition for any of the productions listed below. You do not need to prepare any special materials for auditions. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes. For descriptions of any of the productions, please click on Performances.
All scheduled rehearsals for the Mainstage Company and the Junior Company are mandatory. We follow the Concord Public School vacation and holiday schedule and do not rehearse on days when school is not in session.
This program is open to young people in grades 3 to 5. The Junior Company rehearses Fridays from 4-6 pm and the first and third Saturdays of the month from 9-11am. A full scale production with costumes, set, lights and music is presented for three days at the end of the rehearsal process. This is a precursor to our mainstage company. No audition is required. Students learn about all of the pieces that go into making a full scale show and become well prepared for the next phase of CYT, the mainstage company. Tuition $380

The Real Inspector Hound
Young adults in grades 9-12 are eligible to audition.
This one-act comedy by Tom Stoppard follows two theater critics who are watching a ludicrous set up of a murder mystery. By chance they become involved in the action causing a series of events that parallel the play they are watching. It is a parody of the parlor mystery as well as of the critics watching the play, with their personal desires and obsessions interwoven into their bombastic and pompous reviews. This play is an example of absurdity, farce, parody and satire all the while examining the theme of the ‘play within a play’.
Auditions: Jan. 14 & 16, 6:30-8:30pm (it is only necessary to attend one of the two audition dates); $5 audition fee
Rehearsals to be determined Dec. 1st
Show times: Apr. 9, 10, 11, 12
Grades 8-12, no audition required
A unique opportunity for older students to participate in a performance troupe that’s not for the faint of heart! Playtime Theatre is CYT’s improv company. We are looking for actors who will improvise lines, sing songs, tell jokes and be outrageously silly in front of a live audience! This is a wonderful outlet for your creativity and imagination and a great opportunity for collaboration and teamwork. Each week the cast rehearses and performs their own new and improved version of a children’s story. Actors will gain first hand knowledge of audience dynamics and how to “work the crowd” while guiding audience participation. No audition necessary, just your energy and enthusiasm. Tuition $250
