In addition to our own Performance Company productions, which are musicals adapted from children's literature for family audiences, CYT also sponsors Guest Artist performances by adult theatre arts professionals. Playtime Players Present: PLAYTIME THEATRE Join us for a fresh and delightful theatrical experience for younger audience memebers. CYT actors will inspire you with their new and improved versions of familiar children’s stories, complete with ample opportunities for audience participation. Outgoing audience members will have the chance to join the actors on stage to make their debut with a favorite joke, song or special talent. There is always a sing-a-long and every audience member receives a prize. So put on your performing hat and come play with us! Most Saturdays from September to April with all shows starting at 10:30AM Not So Mainstage Players Present: Willy Wonka Roald Dahl's timeless story of the world famous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to life in this state adaptation of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Friday, March 19 at 7:30PM No advance reservations necessary Guest Artist : STORIES WITH JOEY Join renowned storyteller, Joey Talbert, for heart-warming tales for each season as you introduce your child to the magic of live storytelling. Each show is approximately 45 minutes and appropriate for age 3 and up. No advance sales, but reservations accepted. $5 per person. October 31 / November 21 / January 30 / March 13 / May 1 Fundraiser: A BRIGHT NEW DAY CABARET Join us for our annual Cabaret. Staff, alumni and performance company members all work together to bring you a fun-filled and exciting evening of song, skits and dance. Always a crowd pleaser and always full of surprises. Individual tickets $20, $30 or $40 Fundraiser: 2ND ANNUAL ICE CAPELLA Come to hear local high school, college and professional a capella groups perform for all. Tickets are $10 each January 29, 2010 at 8:00PM Guest Artist : AESOP'S FABLES With the help of Aesop himself (and his faithful dog, Moral), The Stag at the Pool, The Tortoise and the Hare, The Fox and the Grapes, The Wind and the Sun and The Lion and the Mouse come to life through the large and colorful puppets of nationally acclaimed puppeteer and storyteller, Jim West. Other beloved characters also make their appearance to the enchanting music of Scarlatti, Beethoven, Rossini and Chopin, inspiriing the child in all of us. Tickets are $13 each Two performances at 10:00AM and 1:00PM on February 17, 2010 Mainstage Players Present: THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD Another of Rene Pfister's magical, musical creations. Follow Robin Hood and his merry band of outlaws as he faces the evil Sheriff of Nottingham. Maid Marion, Little John and all the rest are there for Robin Hood and the poor peasants of the land as everyone struggles to prove that good always prevails over wicked. Fridays, February 26 & March 5 at 7:30PM Mainstage Performance Company Presents: SLEEPING BEAUTY This is the classic story of the beautiful princess, the handsome prince, the good natures fairies and the evil witch. You will fall in love with our characters as they do their best to keep the princess safe from all the spinning wheels in the kingdom as the wicked Evilena tries to foil the prince on his quest to awaken the sleeping princess. Fridays, May 7 & 14 at 7:30PM Young Adult Performance Company Presents: THE CRUCIBLE Arthur Miller's classic tale is based on the actual events that, in 1692, led to the Salem Witch Trials, a series of hearings before local magistrates to prosecute over 150 people accused of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts between February 1692 and May 1693. This play is studied in high schools and universities because of its status as a revolutionary work of theatre. Recommended for audience members age 12 and over. Tickets $10 per person. Friday, June 11 at 7:30PM Young Adult Performance Company Presents: Urinetown Urinetown is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. In a city with a 20-year drought, the government is forced to ban public toilets. Amid the people, a hero decides he's had enough and plans a revolution. Urinetown is an incredibly humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny. Urinetown has outrageous perspective, modern wit and an ability to produce gales of laughter. Fridays, July 9 & 16
